Br. Ephrem Reese is a native of Harrisburg, PA, and was baptized in St. Patrick's Cathedral there as a baby. However, he was not raised as a Catholic, but found his way into the United Methodist Church as a teenager. He went to St. John's College in Annapolis, MD, and there he sought confirmation in his senior year. Having been moved by the example of Dorothy Day, he spent some time looking into the Catholic Worker and related lay movements in the Church. Ultimately, the Lord called him to consecrated life in the Order of Preachers, where he could devote himself more radically to living and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the study of sacred doctrine. He entered the novitiate in 2013, made his solemn profession in 2018, and was ordained a deacon in 2019. He enjoys coffee, music, and talking about music over coffee. Br. Ephrem will serve our parish over the summer of 2019.
