The East-West Encounter is an opportunity for Christians from Eastern Orthodox and Western (Roman Catholic and Protestant) spiritual traditions to come together in fellowship and explore topics of mutual interest in a spirit of respect and dialogue. This year's event will include: 6:00pm - Orthodox Prayer Service (Moleben); 6:30pm - Fellowship / Refreshments; 7:00pm - Presentation and Response; 8:45pm - Benediction. The Guest Speaker is Mr. James Jatras, J.D. A specialist in governmental relations and international affairs, Mr. Jatras has served as a political commentator and analyst in Washington DC for three decades. In 1995, Mr. Jatras collaborated in the submission of an amicus brief submitted to the US Supreme Court representing the position of Orthodox Church on matters concerning the defense of human life, including a response to the Court’s ruling on abortion in Roe v. Wade. This brief elucidates the historical background framing an Orthodox Christian perspective on Right to Life issues held by the early Church. RSVP - Would you like to attend?
