In acknowledgement of the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, we will celebrate the novemdiales, the customary nine days of mourning. Here is an outline of our Parish plan:
Monday, January 2nd: 5:15PM Simple Requiem Mass, with Requiem Prayers.
Tuesday, January 3rd, Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus: Requiem Prayers after the 5:15PM Mass.
Wednesday, January 4th, Feast of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament following the 8:00AM Mass until the 5:15PM Mass, and following the 5:15PM Mass until 8PM, with Recitation of the Office of the Dead throughout the day. Thursday, January 5th, Feast of St. John Neumann: Funeral Mass of Pope Emeritus Benedict at the Vatican (for which we will send out a livestream link).
Friday, January 6th: Requiem Prayers after the 5:15PM Mass.
Saturday, January 7th: Requiem Prayers after the 8:30AM Mass.
Sunday, January 8th: Solemnity of the Epiphany (not part of the novemdiales)
Monday, January 9th, Baptism of the Lord: Requiem Prayers after the 5:15PM Mass.
Tuesday, January 10th: Requiem Prayers after the 5:15PM Mass.
Wednesday, January 11th:
Confessions at 6PM.
Solemn tolling of the Bells before Mass (95 times, representing the length of the Holy Father's life).
Solemn Requiem Mass at 7PM.
